Stable design part I

Almost every person who starts their adventure with horses, dreams about owning a stable and often happens, that this person implement their dreams in reality much too soon, without knowledge of the dark side of owning this kind of place.

If you have already decided to pursue your dreams of a horse riding center, a home stable, etc. I suggest you start by contacting people who have knowledge about running such places.

If you continue to realize your dreams, it is worth seeking help from specialist, because not every architect with diploma has any idea about designing such places, and in duo with with person, who is building stable for the first time, it may end in human and animal drama - health or financial one.

There are still many buildings in Poland that seems very attractive for conversion into stables.

These include old sheepfolds, piggeries etc. and ATTENTION - whithout adaptation, these buildings are not suitable for keeping horses, due to the fact that they are to low and designes for completely different type of animals, which have completly different requirments for breednig then horses. Even if we decide to purchase such a farm and adapt it, please remember that it needs to be thoroughly redesigned and, as result, rebuilt, which may require large financial outlays.

As our climate constantly warming and the number of horses with respiratory problems increases, we can see that trend on English stables is on, which can be a great solution and a very budget alternative. It is worth taking into account that such a structure requires solidity, because with larger gusts of wind, horses unaccustomed to apocalyptic conditions may lose their minds, and with them the newly "realized dreamer" owner. When designing English stalls, it is also worth taking into the account area around the stable, so that you do not have to seek for your boots in amount od mud during ech feeding time.

The desired type of stable is a high stable, well-lit and ventilated, with well-made sevage systems and dreins, and its main part is a safe corridor. These are stables designed with knowledge of horses and their owners needs. I am very glad that thera are more and more such places on the map of our country.

The topics of the free-range stables I will discuss in the next part, because their phenomenon and current growth is terrifyingly impressive, and it certainly makes sense, just not for every horse and rider.
